Trojan Horse Attracts With A False Norton Antivirus

Virus makers don't hesitate for anything and now attracts with fake anti-virus program to spread their malicious code.

Beware of fake viruses. Virus makers are trying to make use of all the people who are searching the web for free antivirus software. This warning comes from IT security company Sophos who recently discovered a trojan that purports to be a free version of Norton Antivirus 2008.

To the site with injury program, which by the way, looks professional and fairly credible out, you can get there through one of the ads that appear when Google search on the terms "free antivirus". Users Council, therefore, of great caution and skepticism when they visit such sites.

To help users avoid the danger Sophos has created a video which illustrates the problem.

After pornography, "free antivirus" must be to be one of the most common things people are searching for on the Internet. But dangerous ads like this makes it easy to take a bad security decisions. It is a big problem with hackers who use pay advertising services in the search engines to increase traffic to its website in order to trick users on the money. I have seen such an ad for a registry cleaner before.

Symantec, the company behind the Norton Antivirus, can hardly be amused by the fact that their trademark is being misused and abused in this way.
