Do We Actually Need Registry Cleaners?

The need for anti-virus software programs became essential when an brilliant but bad computer geek invented and reproduced a digital virus. Anti-spyware solutions became necessities when spyware and other forms of malware started using backdoors to get in to our systems. But can we put registry cleaner application under the same category? Are registry cleaners just as important as the other solutions that guard and protect our computer terminals from injury?

Let us start with this question: exactly from what do registry cleaners protect us from?

Indeed, the Windows registry is the warehouse of options and settings important for the operations of the platform, making it the sector of the OS that is most exposed to corruption. Not needed and excessive files may be stored in the registry, files which may not have been uninstalled with the programs that brought them into the system. These files can slow down the PC, or worse, be incompatible with important files and crash the OS altogether.

So, knowing this things, Is a registry cleaner needed or not needed?
